Vain a side character that debuted in Lucious Duller's route ending, and a romanceable character from Melody of Awakening, the last spin-off that finished the Mystery Series' story.[1]

Appearance

Vain has light complexion, long dark pink hair with side bangs, eyes with heterochromia and a mole underneath his left eye.

Vain's main outfit consist of a mask covering his mouth, earring in his left ear, turtle neck shirt being gray in the middle and black in the puffed sleeves, white coat with details in blue, black and red, long gloves of red (left) and gray (right), black pants, boots and multiple black belts with pink feathers in the left.

Story

Background

Vain came from the future (season 7 forward timeline) with his familiar Mischa and his younger brother Hugo Peers. Knowing the occurrences that will lead to the future they came from, and as the leader of the group, Vain gives missions for Hugo to complete in order to stop the Dragonkins from destroying the world.[2]

Seasons 7 to 10

In Lucious Duller's ending Vain appears.

In Hugo Peers' route, after seeing Felix walking free in the Land of Solomon, when questioned by Liz Hart (MC) Vain held information, despite knowing more about Felix and the future. He then freezes Liz temporarily with his right eye and leaves. In Hugo's happy ending, after Liz discovers that Vain is Hugo's "boss" and brother, and regards them not being "alike," Hugo mentions that this may be due to both of them looking as their respective parents. Not being further expound.

In Willem V Rembrandt's happy ending and Nox Noir's route, it is commented by Mischa that Vain is away and that he would have a fit knowing that Rembrandt (their former enemy) is living next to them and that they are getting along quite well to the extent that Mischa spends some afternoons in Willem's house and Hugo has become more sociable due to Willem's presence.

In Clive Lagrene's route, Vain appears and is told more about his motives.

Season 11

In Florin's route, when Liz is kidnapped along with Shu. Just when Liz was checking on what she thought to be twig that Florin had gave her "for emergencies", Vain shows up. She's surprised to see him as well as he is to see her. He enters saying that he was expecting to see a dragon (he could not see Shu because Liz had him hidden underneath her robes), and when Liz confronted him on why did he kidnap her, Vain calmly replies that he did not. To prove his innocence, he opens Liz's cage, and just before he leaves he spots what Liz was holding and comments that it was a Dragon's fang turned into a whistle, and then he leaves Liz. It was later discovered by Liz that indeed Vain had nothing to do with her and Shu's kidnapping.

In Florin and Albert routes, it is mentioned that Vain is the one who is summoning the Nameless.

Magical Abilities

It was shown in Hugo's route that his hidden right eye can froze a person that sees it.

Trivia

  • He calls Liz (MC) "little bunny", which makes him the second character to relate Liz to this animal. The first one was Klaus, who called her in his first route and sequel "Bunnyhead"; and the third one being Nox, who mentions she resembles a rabbit.
  • Vain and Hugo parenthood, not further expound, could mean that one son took after the father and the other after the mother or it could also mean that they might be from different fathers or mothers.
